Project Description

Overview

Violet Isle is the brainchild of producer and studio owner Bill Jabr. Having owned and operated a number of successful smaller studios between LA and Atlanta, the time felt right for Jabr to finally build a state of the art flagship facility to serve his growing list of high profile clients including Andre 3000, Donald Glover, James Blake, Ari Lennox, and Uzi Vert.

Program

The WSDG team was tasked with master planning for the 3 studio facility and a full studio design package for the A suite. This included Control Room, Live Room, and Iso Booth design, acoustic isolation and optimization, AV Infrastructure design, and technical interior design.

Design

Built in a former t-shirt pressing plant, Violet Isle has a warm, organic vibe that extends throughout the facility. The A Suite features a classically appointed Control Room with large, isolated windows offering views out to both the adjacent Live Room and Iso Booth, as well as through the Live Room to the city outside . Distinctive ‘crashing wave’ influenced ceiling treatments with recessed lighting create an optimal and balanced critical listening environment for the soffit mounted, custom built Augspurger style main monitors and create a sense of movement and energy. At the heart of it all is a vintage SSL 4048 G console which offers high-end, analog fidelity and flexibility for both mixing and tracking. Finally, a private lounge, which includes a full kitchen, bathroom, and shower, offers artists privacy from the rest of the facility while maintaining views to the Live Room.
