NEW YORK: Romina Larregina, a seven-year veteran with the Walters-Storyk Design Group (WSDG www.wsdg.com) has been named Senior Project Manager for the busy multi-national architectural/acoustical design firm.
In 1999 while working on her thesis in Architecture at the University of Palermo, Argentina-born Larregina’s resume attracted the attention of Sergio Molho, head of WSDG SA, the firm’s Latin American division. Named an assistant architect, Larregina was quickly immersed in a variety of high-level recording studio and post-production facility design assignments. Creating computer renderings, floor plan sections, elevations and visiting construction sites to check on job progress quickly established her reputation for dependability. Following graduation in 2000 she became a full-time staff member.
During an annual visit to his Buenos Aires office, company principal John Storyk was so impressed with Larregina’s energy, commitment, creative design, project and management skills, he offered her a position in the New York office. In mid-2001 she moved to Highland, NY to apply her talents to assignments ranging from houses of worship and high-end home theaters to the world-renowned Jazz At Lincoln Center complex at NYC’s Time-Warner Building.

She is knowledgeable, detail-oriented, thrives on responsibility and she speaks four languages! We are delighted to recognize her contribution with this well-earned promotion.”
In the past year Romina’s WSDG assignments have included project management of the 96,000 sq. ft Dozier Center For The Performing Arts in Atlanta and ongoing contributions to Talking House, an ambitious SF-based media compound. She is currently collaborating on projects for Boston University’s new Center For Digital Imaging Arts (CDIA) audio recording and education facility, for Luny Tunes, a nine-studio recording/mastering complex, a new Goo Goo Dolls studio and JYP Records, an ambitious production facility in Korea..
“Monitoring design changes, scrutinizing blueprints, coordinating and integrating wiring and HVAC installs at the earliest stages of construction, and helping to draft plans that address the countless variables and complexities of acoustic issues is demanding but gratifying work,” Larregina says. “There is little room for error in the critical elements of recording studio design, and the job has equally significant ‘people sensitivity’ requirements. It’s as important for me to relate to clients and co-workers as it is to blueprints and spec sheets.”
Although traditionally few women play pivotal roles in the alpha-male dominated field of architecture and construction, the Walters-Storyk Design Group depends on a management team comprised of four talented women. Company co-principal Beth Walters is Sr. Interior Designer who works closely with CFO Nancy Flannery to keep tabs on all business issues, and Systems Engineer Judy Brown an industry leader in advanced studio integration and project management.
