The May 2025 issue of Proscenium magazine features a detailed look at the striking reinvention of Kuppel Basel, once a legendary but acoustically challenged club, now a state-of-the-art permanent venue in the heart of the Swiss city. In the article “Wiedergeburt einer Live-Sound-Ikone”, WSDG Partner and General Manager Europe Dirk Noy outlines the firm’s integral role in shaping the venue’s acoustic identity.

From sound isolation and electroacoustics to immersive system integration, WSDG’s work ensured that the revitalized space delivers flawless audio performance without disturbing its residential surroundings. A highlight of the project was the creation of a mechanically decoupled ‘cheese dome’ concrete shell, allowing high-energy performances at up to 100 dBA without disturbing the surrounding community.

The feature highlights WSDG’s longstanding commitment to acoustic precision in multifunctional venues and underscores the power of close collaboration between architects, engineers, and AV specialists in delivering world-class performance spaces.
