Project Description
Overview
The Stralsund Train Station is the main train station in Western Pomerania and is the centerpoint of railway lines running to Hamburg, Bergen auf Rugen, and Berlin in the city of Stralsund. It is owned and operated by Deutsche Bahn.
Program
The WSDG Design Team was tasked with planning and executing room acoustics and electroacoustics alongside the installation of a new voice alarm system in the station building.
Design
The station lobby has a very unique acoustic profile and is subject to monument protections due to its elaborate collection of murals. The WSDG design team simulated many different loudspeaker types before arriving at the final selection. Once the new system was installed, the proper speech intelligibility values were achieved.
