Sony RCA Studios is an in-house recording studio for RCA Records and is the centerpiece of RCA’s West Coast headquarters. WSDG were responsible for studio design and acoustics of the space, Gensler were the architects of record on the project, premier LA GC firm Taslimi were retained for construction, and Procraft partnered with WSDG on A/V design and installation.
The WSDG Design Team was tasked with creating a top-level studio space with excellent acoustics that would serve as the hub of musical creativity within RCA’s offices, as well as an incubation space and inspiring creative playground for the label’s newest signings.
The space features a 475 ft2 control room and a 675 ft2 live room. The control room has a ‘balanced’ asymmetrical design that gives it a unique aesthetic appearance without any compromises to acoustics, and has Symphonic Acoustics monitoring for excellent sound in all mix positions. Both were designed with warm colors to match the approachable vibe of RCA’s office culture.
