Overview
Estadio Mâs Monumental, home to Club Atlético River Plate and the Argentinian national football team, is the largest sports stadium in South America with a capacity of more than 86,000. In addition to hosting a wide variety of sporting events year-round, Estadio Mâs Monumental is also the site of massive, record-breaking outdoor concert events for the largest touring acts in the world including Paul McCartney, U2, the Rolling Stones, Shakira, Coldplay, and Taylor Swift. Between 2020 and 2023, the stadium was extensively redeveloped to update its seating, accommodations, and sound systems to adhere to FIFA standards.
Program
The WSDG team was tasked with peer review of the electroacoustic specifications and coordination of the updated sound systems to ensure top quality speech intelligibility and clarity within the stadium. This would ensure an excellent listening experience for all attendees as well as enhance safety considerations within Estadio Mâs Monumental.
Design
WSDG worked closely with the teams from Bosch and Electro-Voice to optimize the specifications and placement of the new sound system. The WSDG team proposed several recommendations that were approved and resulted in vastly improved sound coverage and clarity in the stands. In addition to this, WSDG also supervised the installation and final testing of the system to ensure optimal performance. The new sound system has made an immediate impact on the quality of sporting events and concerts that have been held at Estadio Mâs Monumental, making it one of the most popular destinations for both in South America and the world.
