Project Description

Overview

The Faena Hotel Buenos Aires is a five-star hotel located in the Puerto Madero section of Buenos Aires. The century-old historic building was redesigned by designer Philippe Starck into a luxurious 88-room complex that also includes restaurants, dining rooms, fashion boutiques, and the ’Rojo Tango’ cabaret show.

Program

The WSDG team was tasked with interior room acoustics, acoustic isolation, and system integration for the entire complex. The goal was a comfortable and calming sonic environment within the rooms, a lively ballroom and dance hall, and an intelligent system for distributing music and announcements throughout the hotel.

Design

Coordinating directly with Starck, the WSDG team designed a system of acoustically decoupled walls and floating ceilings to provide acoustic isolation within the critical spaces of the hotel. In addition to this, the team created an audio system with 16 channels that can run both independently and simultaneously, providing sound and music everywhere within the hotel as needed. The system utilized Bose speakers and DSP from Shure for maximum control and sound quality.
