In 2017 when the $267 million Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova Stadium was completed in Salvador, Brasil it was an immediate hit with soccer fanatics. Unfortunately, in 2016 when it was booked as a performance venue for the Salvador Fest, over 50,000 concert fans were frustrated by abysmal acoustics that ruined the music.
Top acousticians from WSDG were called in to “tune” the stadium for future concerts. Switzerland-based partner Gabe Hauser designed an extraordinary sound system, Brazil-based partner Renato Cipriano and US project engineer engaged powerful software programs to design a huge acoustic ‘blanket’ and other innovative treatments that distributed a substantially enhanced sound quality throughout the stadium. Last week in Salvador, fans AND artists alike were delighted with the results.
