Project Description
Overview
The Qatar State Mosque, officially known as the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque, is a 175,000 sq ft house of worship that can seat as many as 30,000. The mosque was officially opened in 2011.
Program
The WSDG Design Team was tasked with room and building acoustics of the entire facility.
Design
The largest mosque in Qatar has a traditional Arabic style featuring 28 large domes indoors and 65 domes outdoors. The WSDG Design Team modeled and simulated the mosque for ideal room acoustics and to shorten the reverberation time. Building acoustics were also developed to optimize noise immission and emissions.
