Project Description
Overview
South Africa was selected in 2004 to be the first African nation to host the FIFA World Cup Tournament. In preparation, the country commissioned five new sports stadiums to be built to accommodate visiting teams.
Program
WSDG worked in collaboration with gmp Architects, Berlin in the electoacoustic design of three of these stadiums.
Design
In addition to designing the sound reinforcement systems for these stadiums in accordance with FIFA’s requirements, the WSDG design team was also responsible for investigation of noise emission from the new stadium and its sound system in the neighboring development in the direction of Tafelberg.
