Title: „Tuning The Room Part II – Acoustic Design – Beautiful, Effective and Invisible“

Presented by Sergio Molho, Partner, Director of Intl. Development, WSDG

Language: English

Dramatic leaps in acoustic design and technology have permitted designers the luxury of providing clients with a myriad of options for tuning their rooms to optimal levels of musical and conversational clarity and quietude.   These solutions are aesthetically pleasing, affordable and exceptionally effective.   Heavy draperies, ungainly wall treatments and complex technical devices have been replaced by attractive, user-friendly alternatives.   Innovations such as perforated wood surface treatments, acoustically absorbing (smooth) plaster, transparent acoustic plastic, micro-perforated (think absorbing glass!) foil, seat cushions constructed with absorptive acoustic materials, and handsome acoustic diffusers, are now available to inhibit excessive sound levels. These (and other) options have proven themselves superbly capable of remedying reflective noise problems and improving speech recognition and, they are not prohibitively expensive.  This will explore a variety of new and improved acoustic treatments and discuss methods of implementing them to maximize their potential WSDG is an international architectural/acoustical, firm which has created over 3500 professional music performance venues, recording and broadcast production/audio mixing suites and high-end home theaters. Company credits include NYC’s Jazz At Lincoln Center, 54 Below, and Le Poisson Rouge, Switzerland’s KKL Luzern Concert Hall, and personal recording studios for Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen. WSDG Principal/Director of International Relations, Sergio Molho offers a 90 minute presentation designed to educate home theater / pro listening environment designers on such issues as isolation, and quietness, acoustic simulation and sound distribution/prediction programs, and innovative acoustic designs systems integrations for optimizing residential and professional listening environments.
