Talking House and The Recording Academy© team for MusiCares and Music in Schools benefit at historic Warfield Theater

San Francisco — 1 August 2006 — Some of California’s and the Bay Area’s greatest music stars of the past 50 years will gather Friday, Oct. 6 at The Warfield to perform a once-in-a-lifetime concert: “An All-Star Tribute to San Francisco Music, Past and Future,” celebrating San Francisco’s rich history and fertile future as a world center of creativity and popular music. Over 2,000 music and entertainment VIPs, AES Convention attendees and Bay Area music students will converge to enjoy the private music industry concert, reception and fundraiser.

Co-hosted by Talking House Productions, San Francisco’s center for inspired music creation and development, and the SF chapter of The Recording Academy (Grammys), the event will raise funds for Bay Area music education and musician disaster relief, and will coincide with the 121st Audio Engineering Society Convention at Moscone Center, which is expected to attract more than 20,000 audio industry professionals from around the world.

Promising an evening of unique performances and modern rockin’ versions of some of history’s biggest hits by SF artists, the Bill Graham Special Events production will bring some of today’s biggest music stars together on stage with classic artists from the Bay Area’s golden past and rising new local talent.

A highlight of the event will be a silent auction dubbed the Magnificent Music Memorabilia Museum — featuring a treasure chest of historic Bay Area music memorabilia up for bid — to raise money for Music in Schools Today (MuST), a non-profit organization that provides supplemental music education to K-12 students in the Bay Area.

While the tribute is an invitation-only event, limited reserved seating is being offered to industry members in exchange for donations to The Recording Academy’s MusiCares charity to benefit musicians affected by Katrina and other natural and personal disasters.
