Project Description
Overview
WSDG has been engaged as both acoustic consultant and low voltage consultant for The Cove, a luxury 30-story residential tower currently under construction in Miami’s trendy Edgewater neighborhood. Developed by Hazelton Capital Group with Kobi Karp as Architect of Records and Tristan Dieguez as Architect/Designer, this project represents the evolution of luxury residential design where exceptional acoustics and advanced technology integration are paramount. The project, which commenced in 2024, showcases WSDG’s comprehensive approach to creating acoustically superior living environments in one of Miami’s most popular and desirable locations.
Program
The Cove stands as a testament to modern luxury living, featuring approximately 30 floors of premium residences in Miami’s vibrant Edgewater district. This luxury building incorporates extensive amenities including a gymnasium, cinema, and exclusive penthouse units complete with private pools and dedicated amenities. The project demands the highest standards of acoustic performance and technological expertise to ensure that residents enjoy pristine living conditions without interference from neighboring units, building amenities, or mechanical systems. WSDG’s dual role encompasses both structural and internal acoustics consultation, alongside comprehensive low voltage and AV systems design throughout the entire building.
Design
WSDG’s acoustic design approach for The Cove focuses on comprehensive sound isolation solutions addressing both structural acoustics and internal acoustics. Special attention has been given to preventing sound transmission between adjacent units and vertically between floors, ensuring that high-activity spaces such as the gymnasium and cinema do not disturb residential units above. The penthouse units receive particular consideration, with acoustic solutions designed to isolate these exclusive spaces from mechanical units and other noise sources. WSDG has coordinated closely with the interior designer to ensure that selected materials and finishes contribute effectively to the overall acoustic performance of the building.
The low voltage consulting encompasses the design of all AV systems distributed throughout the building, including strategically placed audio speakers and video systems. Advanced access control systems utilizing fingerprint recognition and mobile app connectivity replace traditional key-based entry, requiring sophisticated signal distribution to each door unit. The building’s cinema features a complete audio-visual package with professional-grade projectors, cinema speakers, and supporting equipment, all reviewed and recommended by WSDG to ensure optimal performance and seamless integration with the building’s overall acoustic design.
