Almost 30 years ago, Chris Stone, one of the founding partners of one of our industry’s most famous studios, Record Plant (NYC and LA) wrote what is now considered a seminal article on the future of audio recording studio typologies. It was published in Mix Magazine, entitled “Motherships and Satellites”. It accurately predicted the demise of large urban centric studios and the explosion of smaller “home / project / individual / destination” studios. A panel of celebrity studio owners and users will discuss what was correct and not so correct about Chris’ predictions as well as a glimpse into what is about to happen in the studio world.
