WSDG Booth Talks | Interview with Steve Shultis | AES 2024

Accomplished radio broadcast engineer and Radio World Excellence in Engineering Award-winning Steve Shultis, CTO at WNYC (New York Public Radio), sat down for a chat with WSDG’s COO, Joshua Morris, at the Audio Engineering Society’s annual show on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The 30-minute interview took place in the company’s booth at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Shultis shares his journey from a high school apprenticeship at Bearsville Records to a career in audio technology, including his education at SUNY Fredonia. He also discusses his role at WNYC, how the station transitioned to remote work during the pandemic, emphasizing the use of Riverside FM for high-quality remote interviews and the establishment of home studios. Shultis also profiles the station’s 56-person newsroom, its various digital streams, and the future reassessment of workspace needs.
