WSDG Booth Talks | Interview with Rob Jaczko | AES 2024

Robert Jaczko, Chair of the Music Production and Engineering Department at Berklee College of Music, known for his work with artists like Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, and Sheryl Crow, sat down for a chat with WSDG’s Founding Partner and Director of Design, John Storyk, at the Audio Engineering Society’s annual show on Wednesday, October 10, 2024. The 30-minute interview took place in the company’s booth at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Rob discusses his career trajectory, including his tenure as a staff engineer at A&M Studios in Los Angeles and his transition to Berklee following the 1994 Northridge earthquake. He highlights the rigorous audition process for the MP&E program, which accepts only 30% of applicants, and introduces the new Independent Recording and Production (IRP) major, which has grown to 457 majors in 24 months. Jaczko also mentions the challenges of managing studio time and the need for new facilities to accommodate the program’s growth.

For their work on Berklee College of Music, WSDG was proud to receive the NAMM TEC Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement for a Studio Design Project in 2015.
