WSDG Booth Talks | Interview with Chuck Ainlay | AES 2024
Grammy Award-winning engineer and producer Chuck Ainlay, known for his work with artists like George Strait, Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, and Emmylou Harris, sat down for a chat with WSDG’s Founding Partner and Director of Design, John Storyk, at the Audio Engineering Society’s annual show on Tuesday, October 9, 2024. The 30-minute interview took place in the company’s booth at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.
Ainlay shares stories of his career, including working with notable artists like George Strait and Peter Frampton, and his transition from a traditional studio to an immersive home studio. He emphasizes the importance of creating immersive mixes from the start rather than converting stereo mixes. Ainlay also mentions his preference for high-resolution recording and his collaboration with mastering engineers like Bob Ludwig and Michael Romanowski.
