Grammy Award-winning engineer Ann Mincieli, partner in in the WSDG-designed Jungle City Studios [Winner of the 2012 TEC Award for Studio Design Project], known for her work with artists like Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Drake, Mariah Carey, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, and Whitney Houston, sat down for a chat with WSDG’s COO, Joshua Morris, at the Audio Engineering Society’s annual show on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The 30-minute interview took place in the company’s booth at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Ann shares her journey in pro audio, starting as a 16-year old guitar player and rising within the studio world to become a renowned engineer and studio owner. She discusses the changing landscape of the industry, from the traditional tape-based studios of the 1990s to the rise of home studios.

Advocating for the continued relevance of professional studios, Ann describes the rich environment they create for collaboration, networking, and learning. Finally, she describes her involvement in building and equipping studios, highlighting her keen eye for detail and the importance of acoustics and technical infrastructure.
