Recording Studio Environments — Past, Present, Future
Hosted by John Storyk, Founding Partner, Director of Design
174 DCC-HASS Media Studio, RPI Campus. Troy, NY
Recording studios have evolved continuously since the dawn of recorded music — a sea change that the architects, acousticians, and system designers of WSDG have had a critical role in since founding partner John Storyk designed Electric Lady Studios in 1969. As technology has progressed and the needs of artists and producers have become more complex, studio designers have had to continuously explore new techniques while keeping the core critical listening needs of these rooms intact. In this lecture John presented a guided history of the Recording Studio and the fresh approaches being spearheaded by WSDG to bring these artistic incubators into a new era.
