Liberty University, America’s largest private, non-profit Christian university, has commissioned WSDG (Walters-Storyk Design Group) to design a state-of-the art recording/teaching studio for their expanding campus.

LYNCHBURG, VA.  Liberty University, America’s largest private, non-profit Christian university, has commissioned WSDG (Walters-Storyk Design Group) to design a state-of-the art recording/teaching studio for their expanding campus. Set within a dedicated 1600 sq. ft. sector carved out of the recently completed 141,000 sq. ft. Center for Music & The Worship Arts Building, the studio is wired to record throughout the building from rehearsal rooms to the 1600 seat concert hall.  The studio will also be used in conjunction with the university’s School of Music, Songwriting, Artist Development, Recording, Engineering and Producing, Film Scoring, and Jazz Studies programs as well as for Red Tie Music, the school’s recently acquired professional Christian music publishing and recording label.

Nathan Zwald, Assistant Professor of Sound Recording, and Director of Audio Production, reports that Liberty University’s, new studio will feature a 500 sq. ft. Control Room capable of hosting up to 15 students, a spacious 350 sq. ft. live room, a 100 sq. ft. ISO booth and a 200 (sq. ft.) Piano Room.  “We are committed to preparing our students to excel in today’s highly competitive digital production environment,” Zwald said.  “Scheduled for completion in the spring of 2017, this new studio will play a key role in their training, and a be vital asset to our music publishing and recording mission.

“We performed an extensive search for the optimal architectural/acoustic design firm. WSDG’s credentials were exceptionally strong in both the educational and the professional studio sectors,” Zwald adds.  “They are living up to their reputation for creativity, professionalism, and cost effectiveness.  Our new WSDG-designed studio will provide students with a modern learning facility equipped to prepare them for demanding 21st century recording/performing/production/ and teaching jobs,” he concludes.

“WSDG has created educational facilities around the world including NYU’s Steinhardt/Dolan Music Technology Center, Javeriana University, Bogota, Colombia, and the Berklee College of Music Valencia, Spain Complex,” remarked WSDG Partner/Project Manager Romina Larregina. “We are very pleased to add Liberty University to this distinguished client list.”

“As an adjunct professor of Acoustics and Studio Design at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and through my on-going lecture program, I have come to appreciate the enthusiasm of music production and recording students across the country,” remarked WSDG founding partner John Storyk. “Having created teaching studios (and courses) for many prominent schools, including Ex’Pression College, SF; and Full Sail Center, Orlando, we have developed a unique expertise in this area. We are confident that Liberty University’s students will benefit greatly from their new state-of-the-art studio.”
