Project Description
Overview
The owners of an estate in southern California created a subterrain space under the main level of the residence for a cinema-style screening room complete with a lounge area and wine cellar. Design of the space was by Slayman Cinema. AV Integration was by Bradford Wells & Associates and seating by Cineak.
Program
Slayman Cinema were tasked with transforming the space into a beautiful screening area, complete with impeccable acoustics, beautiful design, and a full systems integration package.
Design
The design of the space was influenced by 17th century Spanish and Moorish Gothic architecture. The custom Mudejar ceiling consists of 150 hand-painted panels and is back-lit leaded glass. The arches on the back and side walls are framed in wrought iron and contain 28 speakers carefully hidden behind woven horsehair fabric.
The cinema aspect of the space consists of a 4k DLP video projection system with a 16ft wide screen. The sound system of the space is equipped for Dolby ATMOS.
