As the gold (and platinum) dust from the 2017 Grammy Awards settles on the recording industry field, WSDG congratulates the studios, engineers, and artists whose work was recognized this year. Ann Mincieli‘s showplace Jungle City Studio on New York’s Highline hosted numerous “top secret” sessions for Beyonce’s critically acclaimed (and multi-Grammy-winning) Lemonade. Electric Lady Studios hosted David Bowie and Adele, who also recorded portions of 25, her album and record of the year at Paul Epworth‘s The Church Studios in London.

Beyond the WSDG-designed studios recording Grammy mega-hits, the Boston Symphony Orchestra Control Room played a critical role in the production of the 2017 Grammy award-winning best orchestra performance, (Deutsche Grammophon) recording of, Shostakovich Under Stalin’s Shadow featuring Shostakovich’s Symphonies 5, 8, and 9, recorded by BSO music director Andris Nelsons. This marks the second consecutive year in which the BSO has garnered a Grammy Award in this category. (Coincidentally, WSDG won a NAMM Studio Design Project TEC Award in January for the BSO Control Room.)

“Some day we’d like to total up all the platinum, gold, and Grammy-winning albums recorded at WSDG-designed studios,” founding partner John Storyk remarked. “It ought to be a pretty impressive number.”
