For John Storyk and WSDG, who designed Albert Grossman's (Bearsville) home studio over three decades ago, home studios are nothing new.
The 600 sq. ft. Studio B control & live room and dual iso booths feature a suspended architectural "cloud," a low frequency membrane absorber and mid/high frequency reflecting elements. Cool black, gray and natural wood wall panels lend the studio a hip, casual vibe.
Alicia Keys, Long Island NY
Oven Studios is the personal
studio of Alicia Keys. Built in the suburbs of New York, the studio was designed to be a creative, comfortable environment where Keys could create her music on her own time, in her own space.
This handsome, sophisticated control room enjoys copious natural light and inspirational garden views. A producer/composer for Celine Dion, Santana, Air Supply and other stars Lerner required a comfortable creative environment and the security of the highest level sound containment and isolation.
Divided in 4 distinct areas, this 2150 sq. ft. studio features many variable acoustic treatments including interior ‘shutters’ which reveal 3 large windows when open, a parabolic acoustic cloud diffuser and a custom diffuser wall functions which serves as an absorptive area when draped.
This ‘ultimate garage studio’ incorporates ultra-thin perforated membrane panels, tuned wood, fabric side-wall absorbers and a mid-high frequency rear wall diffuser.
Room-within-room construction produced a professional recording studio in a residential building. Hidden ceiling resonators provide additional acoustic balance. The flexible design serves as a 746 sq. ft. control + live/rehearsal room for up to 15 artists and, a home theater.
