VIENNA, AUSTRIA: Sunshine Music has provided the Austrian music community with impeccable creative mastering and recording services since 1995.  Outgrowing their original single-room in 2001, studio principals Mischa Janisch and Georg Tomandl upgraded to a two-room SSL 6056-equipped recording and mixing facility.

WSDG launched its weblog, which features comment and opinion on the world of acoustic design. Featured in the blog will be WSDG team members from all over the world--Dirk Noy, Renato Cipriano, John Storyk and Sergio Molho.  The blog will also feature photo albums of recent designs and installations.

WSDG is proud to announce that seven of its studios have been submitted to the TEC nominating committee in consideration of its 23rd Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, for the category of recording studio design. BUENOS AIRES:  Sergio Molho, founding partner of the Walters-Storyk Design Group Latin American office, www.wsdg.com , reports the company has been awarded the acoustic consultants contract for a major new MTV production facility.  

MARIETTA, GA:  The Murray Arts Center represents a unique addition to Atlanta's growing commitment to education and live entertainment.  Recently purchased by the Mount Paran Christian School with the aid of a generous grant from Atlanta's Murray Family Foundation, the $35 million complex features a 600 seat music hall, an intimate 2,200 sq. ft. black-box theater, three dance studios, a cutting-edge recording studio and a sophisticated video production/post production facility.

Sunshine Music has been in business since 1995 as a single-room facility, and upgraded to a two-room SSL 6056 equipped recording and mixing facility in 2001.

One Drop Studio has been catering to clients mainly in the Reggae, Dancehall and DJ domains since the late 1990s. A physical move and complete rebuild of the studio facilities is scheduled for early 2008. The new studio will focus on a substantial (>50m2, >500 sq. ft) live recording room and a stereo control room which will ultimately be upgraded to full 5.1 surround sound monitoring. 

BEIJING:  Continuing an international expansion that now counts offices in the USA, Switzerland, Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil, the Walters-Storyk Design Group has is proud to announce that it has been engaged to participate in several important multi-media and large conference center design projects.

NEW YORK: A new facility has joined New York City's circle of premier studios: Roc the Mic. The latest in a series of successful collaborations between leading integration specialists Professional Audio Design (PAD) and TEC award-winning architectural design and acoustic consulting firm Walters-Storyk Design Group (WSDG), Roc the Mic marks an exciting new era of music production in NYC's revitalized music production scene.

Nine of Walters-Storyk Design Group's projects have been considered for nomination for the 23rd Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, by the MIX Foundation. Below is a list of projects being considered, along with project descriptions and associated links.

BOULDER, COLORADO:   The University of Colorado at Boulder has opened the ATLAS Building, a $31million research and teaching facility offering students and faculty members a dedicated space for exploring the interplay between technology, society, media, and the arts.

MEXICO CITY: To better serve the growing Latin American market for professional recording studio design and construction, the Walters-Storyk Design Group has opened a full service office in Mexico City.

BASEL, SWITZERLAND:  Situated in one of the world's most beautiful and peaceful regions, Télévision Suisse Romande (TSR, www.tsr.ch ) is Switzerland's National Public Broadcaster for the French speaking community. Cities and villages like Geneva, Gruyère and Montreux are home to many internationally recognized personalities and, as with the rest of the world, television plays an integral roll in everyone's life.

NEW YORK:  Romina Larregina, a seven-year veteran with the Walters-Storyk Design Group (WSDG www.wsdg.com) has been named Senior Project Manager for the busy multi-national architectural/acoustical design firm.

Around 100.000 visitors that assisted to the 23rd Exposition of Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Design in Buenos Aires, chose 31 Space from Designer Diana Gradel as the winner space. This space was acoustically treated and housed an audio-video-multimedia control room, developed by our professional staff.

SAN FRANCISCO: A two-story warehouse on Bryant Street in SF's burgeoning ‘South of Market' district has been repurposed as Talking House Productions, an acoustically and aesthetically unique recording studio/office complex /gallery/residence, created by a design and construction team lead by John Storyk and the Walters-Storyk Design Group, www.wsdg.com .

NEW YORK:   A former East Village hair salon has morphed into a concise but efficient recording studio thanks to the vision of producer/engineer Michael Croiter and the space optimization skills of Walters-Storyk Design Group architect/acoustician John Storyk.

NEW YORK:  Stretching limited resources to the max is a principle that unifies most of NYC's independent creatives. In 2002, when Sound Designer/Re-Recording Mixer, Eric  Offin and Composer/Sound Designer Mark Garcia, began collaborating with NY's indie feature film and commercial production community, their initial Ovasen Music www.ovasenmusic.com and Tandem Sound Studios, www.tandemsound.com was in the right (but tight) spot at the right time - -  West 14th Street, at the hub of one of  the city's busiest thoroughfares.

WSDG is taking part in an award winning, groundbreaking project in Buenos Aires.  The Central Society of Architects and the Event Center's "La Rural" organized the Preliminary Plans National Contest to build a new event center of international esteem.

Some of California's and the Bay Area's greatest music stars of the past 50 years will gather Friday, Oct. 6 at The Warfield to perform a once-in-a-lifetime concert: "An All-Star Tribute to San Francisco Music, Past and Future," celebrating San Francisco's rich history and fertile future as a world center of creativity and popular music. Over 2,000 music and entertainment VIPs, AES Convention attendees and Bay Area music students will converge to enjoy the private music industry concert, reception and fundraiser.

WSDG is proud to announce that two of its studios have been nominated for the coveted 2006 TEC awards.  Firehouse 12 and Timbaland have been selected following a preliminary consideration of four other WSDG studios. 

The MIX FM radio station is one of the leaders in audience in the city of São Paulo and other capitals in Brazil. After 10 years of existence, it is considered to be the strongest reference for the selected young public between 15 and 29 years old.

A next generation-Internet2 Distance Learning Facility created by the Walters-Storyk Design Group http://www.wsdg.com/ is about to go on-line at NYC's Hunter College Gene Center. Driven by high-speed Internet2 transmission, the new complex will spearhead real-time collaborative experimentation and teaching projects within the international Gene Research community.

WALTHAM, MA. Boston University will add a recording arts program to its curriculum in the fall of 2006. To provide students with the highest level technical training support, Norman Brzycki, Director of Operations for The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at B.U. has retained the Walters-Storyk Design Group to create the new facility.

WSDG played an integral role in designing the Jazz at Lincoln Center facility, enhancing performance spaces and providing design and acoustic consultation for its recording studios.

Sergio Molho, head of the Walters-Storyk Design Group Argentine office has coordinated the design and construction of Luny Tunes, a nine-studio recording/mastering complex to be built in San Juan, Puerto Rico's popular Carolina district.

Six of Walters-Storyk Design Group's projects have been nominated for the 22nd Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, by the MIX Foundation.  These projects, all completed during the calendar year 2005, include Firehouse 12 Recording Studio, Integrated Studios, Oven Studios, Jingletown Recording - Studio B, Timbaland Studios and Working Pictures. 

Oven Studios was recently completed, and is the personal studio of Alicia Keys. Built in the suburbs of New York, the studio was designed to be a creative, comfortable environment where Keys could create her music on her own time, in her own space. 

Integrated Studios, located in the heart of the TriBeCa film district in Manhattan, provides an urivalled facility for audio and video production services. Artist owned and managed, the studio was designed by WSDG and integrated by David Malekpour, founder of Professional Audio Design (PAD).  The results of this conversion feature acoustically pristine live studios and a perfectly tuned control room.

Firehouse 12 is a recording studio, music performance space, and café located on Crown Street in New Haven, CT, representing a unique combination of live performance space and professional recording studio.  "With 18 ft. high ceilings and solid construction dating back to 1904, the building has earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places, and we immediately recognized its terrific inherent acoustics," John Storyk said.

Acclaimed hip-hop producer Tim Mosley a.k.a. TIMBALAND has retained WSDG to build a private two-room recording studio in Virginia Beach. Construction has started.

The Dozier Centre for the Performing Arts, being built by Atlanta developer Don Dozier, will include a 600-seat theater, another smaller theater, three dance studios and recording and rehearsal space when it opens in August.  It was designed by Randall-Paulson Architects and Walters-Storyk Design Group.

After nearly 50 years of enjoying classical music, four years ago I decided to build as close to a world-class Listening Room/Home Theater as I could accommodate in my existing Dallas hi-rise condominium apartment. It took about a year to select the designers, 15 months to design, and another 15 months to build. There was no budget limitation.

Construction has recently begun on a new WSDG designed 4,500 sq. ft. two-room recording studio for leading engineer Andy Taub. Located in Brooklyn's peaceful Cobble Hill neighborhood, Brooklyn Recording will cater to a wide range of album-oriented projects. The facility is slated to go online January 2002. Principle designer John Storyk and associate partner, Scott Yates are responsible for the architecture and acoustics of the facility.

Devastated by a catastrophic fire in August 1998, the Central Synagogue (Lexington Avenue and Fifty-fifth Street) was reduced to a burned-out shell. Following this disaster, architect Hugh Hardy, recognized for his restorative work on New York City landmarks, was called in to rebuild the treasured synagogue. WSDG played a key role in the facility's rebirth as acoustical / audio-visual consultant.

WSDG is in the final stage of a major renovation project for Crossroads Tabernacle and Boden Center for The Performing Arts, a prominent inner-city church located in The Bronx, NY.

TheEngine Room, a full-service audio production facility located in NY's colorful Chinatown district, has introduced a new state-of-the-art mastering lab. WSDG just completed the acoustical design and installation; following original construction consultation by Chris Bowman of CHBO construction.

GAP Digital, one of the only U.S. recording studios specializing in the production of long-form radio drama, just completed a major renovation of its 3,000 square-foot facility is located in the Chicago suburb of Wheaton, adjacent to Wheaton College. WSDG performed all architectural and acoustic design of the renovation.

Ovasen Studios is an audio post production facility located in the lower east side of Manhattan, scheduled to open in March 2006.  Ovasen is a very comfortable studio for video production, with a truly superior monitoring environment.  Ovasen is owned by Village Mega Playground, which has its own video facilities nearby.

WSDG designed a two-room radio production studio for TheStreet.com'sfinancial journalist and co-founder Jim Cramer.

WSDG is designing two audio post-production studios for Thirteen/WNET in New York. Construction is slated to be completed in two months. Headed up by producer/composer/audio consultant Peter Fish and engineer John Arrias, the new suites will service Peter Fish projects and Thirteen's current production business.
